Susan has practised as a psychologist for more than 30 years. Having established Mentors with Patricia Moroney in 1994, Susan has assisted CEO’s, executive teams and middle managers within a range of private and public sectors. This work has included executive coaching and mentoring, team development programs, culture change initiatives and leadership development programs.
Susan has a strong background in training and coaching. Early in her career, Susan developed and implemented post graduate training programs in Drugs and Alcohol and Narrative therapy at Macquarie University. She was sought after as a supervisor and trainer, conducting numerous workshops and conference papers both in Australia and overseas. In addition to therapy, training and supervision, Susan had a keen interest in writing, including professional journal publications, regular psychology feature articles for Medical Observer and a regular weekly column for one of Australia’s leading women’s magazines. She has also co-authored a book, ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ (Allen and Unwin,1987).
Susan’s coaching and mentoring strengths include a strong intuition, the ability to engage and challenge, to get to the heart of self limiting beliefs and to work creatively with clients to assist them to make the changes that they desire and choose for their lives. When working with groups and teams, along with her natural focus on group process, Susan is able to deliver her expertise in a range of core management and leadership competencies, such as effective dialogue, problem solving and decision making, mentoring and coaching, negotiation, conflict resolution, and managing difficult personalities. She is an accredited consultant in the use of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, MTR-i Team Roles inventory, EBW emotional intelligence assessment, Hogan Assessment Systems, Life Styles Inventory, Organisational Culture Inventory & Leadership Impact (Human Synergistics); Benchmarks 360 (APP); Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, Strategic Directions and Personal Directions (MRG).
